曲水の宴（Kyokusui no Utage）
曲水の宴とは、曲がりくねった流れに沿って所々に席を作り、上流から流した酒盃が前を通り過ぎないうちに詩歌を作り、盃を取り上げて酒を飲むという風流な宴である。
この宴の由来は中国で、上巳の日（3月3日）に自然の流水に臨んで、自分自身の災いを払いおとすという習慣が、普の時代には特別な池溝を設けて行われるようになったのである。
In the Kyokusui no Utage poetry, poeys sat on the corners of a winding stream and composed poems before filled sake cups floated down to them, and then drank the sake. This poetry party originated in the Chinese tradition of expelling evils of oneself by facing naturally floating water on March the third. This tradition was observed with a special pond in the Shin Era in China.
